Tuscany, often referred to as the heartland of Italy, has just
like its fine wines, been a long time in the making. This
sun-drenched region is renowned for its extraordinary
countryside. The purple rolling hills are dotted with Cyprus
trees blowing in the breeze and the majestic mountains are
scented with jasmine and rosemary. There are crystal clear
coasts and white sandy beaches and each quaint little village
offers rustic charm and fields of sunflowers for anyone passing
by to enjoy.
There is
something for everyone in this unique and beautiful part of
Italy and it is said that Tuscany has it all. From fine art and
museums of which Tuscany is a jewelled centre, to the
Renaissance cities; Florence, Pisa and Lucca with their awe
inspiring architecture and of course the superb cuisine.
Traditional Tuscan food is simple yet tasty with fresh fish
caught the same day, home reared meats and an abundance of home
grown vegetables and olive oil to compliment warm baked bread.
If none of this
is of interest, there is always the wonderful Italian language
to learn and Tuscan people are famed for being friendly and
charming, willing to help strangers and friends alike. There are
a great many activities to indulge in. Visiting a local vineyard
especially in the Chanti region of Tuscany is a popular past
time. Horse riding, walking or simply packing a picnic and
exploring the amazing rural areas and enjoying the profound
amount of wildlife that shares this part of the world.
