Tuscany which is considered to be the heartland of Italy, has much to offer its visitors from the purple rolling hills to the rugged mountains which lead down to the crystal, clear coastal areas. There is also the fantastic Tuscan cuisine, classic Italian wine all grown and produced in local villages, and the superb sun drenched scenery.
 

Borgo di Colleoli located in between Pisa and Florence offers a choice of beautifully boutique styled hotel suites or traditional Italian décor themed self catering apartments all with stunning rural views which stretch as far as the eye can see.

The countryside of Colleoli and Palaia are defiantly worth exploring. Colleoli is a tiny Tuscan hamlet with just 12 inhabitants whilst the slightly larger village of Palaia has two beautifully sculpted arches to view and an ancient historical quarter with an old church and clock tower.

Florence is just an hours drive away and is renowned as the jewel of Italy’s artistic movement. Worth visiting are the many museums, art galleries and buildings of architectural splendour.

Ancient history can be absorbed in the medieval villages of San Gimignano and Volterra. Both dating back hundreds of years, Volterra has two fine castles and numerous Etruscan remains whilst San Gimignano’s historical centre is a world heritage site.

Pisa, which is famed for its leaning tower is just a 30 minute drive from Borgo di Colleoli and is a great tourist attraction.

A popular day out can be spent touring a variety of local vine yards to sample Tuscany’s finest wines. The Chanti area is famous for Chanti Classico, a wine which established itself in the English courts in the 17th century.

Many of the little villages and hamlets within the Tuscan region offer a truly traditional insight into the Tuscan way of life with most of them having regular hand craft or antique markets, open for people to purchase Italian trinkets and home made artefacts.

Chocolate and truffle tasting is unique to this particular area of Tuscany. All of the confectionary is made on site which is family run. Visitor’s can spend half a day looking around the small factory and discovering what makes this Tuscan treat so special.

The city of Lucca, situated in Northern Tuscany is individual to other towns and cities in the region due to its historic walls around the old town which remain intact today. It also boasts some exceptionally picturesque gardens and pretty hamlets to explore.

Tuscan food and Italian cuisine is a major reason that so many tourists come to the country. Borgo di Colleoli has two restaurants. The Enoteca is a wine bar offering a relaxed dining experience and the I Secoli. This fine restaurant is located in the original wine cellars of the Palazzo and is proud of its award winning status. On the menu is a wide selection of typical Tuscan food and drink.
